These are the sanctuaries in Uganda where we built our homes to generously host our guests.
Four names come up again and again in Western Uganda—because they’re where the safari stories are strongest, and where most safaris begin and end. Bwindi, Kibale, and Entebbe are the anchors; the rest of the country opens naturally around them.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a UNESCO-listed rainforest, famed for mountain gorillas and extraordinary biodiversity. Steep trails and misty ridgelines make every trek feel earned, intimate, and quiet.
Our home here, Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge, sits high on Nteko Ridge, a quiet base on the park’s southern edge, with wide views over the forest and toward the Virunga volcanoes. It gives guests a calm place to arrive, rest, and head out for trekking, well-positioned for the Nkuringo side of Bwindi.
Kibale National Park is an evergreen forest known for chimp tracking and one of Africa’s richest primate line-ups. Guided walks move through canopy shade and birdsong, with surprises at every turn.
Our home here is Mirima Kibale Lodge, sitting high above Lake Nyamirima, with crater-lake views and Kibale’s forest line on the horizon. It is a well-placed, quiet base for chimp mornings that begin without a rush and afternoons that ease back into stillness by the lake.
Entebbe is Uganda’s air gateway on Lake Victoria, with leafy shorelines and an easy reset rhythm. Shoebill tracking in Lake Victoria, Mabamba mashes, the botanical gardens, and the wildlife education center add a gentle first or last day of your safari.
Papyrus Guesthouse is our simple home here in Entebbe, well placed for arrivals, departures, and a gentle pause in a leafy town by the lake. It brings ease, comfort, and a sense of being looked after before the safari begins or after it ends.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s great meeting point of savannah, crater lakes, wetlands, and the Kazinga Channel, with game drives and boat safaris that keep the days varied.
