Dining in Kibale that feels relaxed, generous, and well timed
Some days at Mirima begin early, with coffee and breakfast before chimpanzee tracking. Other days move more slowly, with time for the lodge’s culture, garden, the pool, a crater-lake walk, a village visit, or a quiet morning on your terrace.
The chef keeps that African safari rhythm in mind. Breakfast is served à la carte. Guests heading out for tracking or longer activities choose a packed lunch from the menu before they leave. If you spend the day at the lodge, lunch comes in three courses, with time to sit properly and enjoy the meal.
In the evening, dinner brings everyone back to Ziwa Restaurant. The chef prepares Ugandan-inspired seasonal food with garden herbs, home-grown vegetables, and produce from nearby growers. You eat well, settle in comfortably, and let the day slow down at the table.
Ziwa Restaurant & Dining
Ziwa is the social room at Mirima, where breakfast starts softly, lunch turns generous, and dinners bring everyone to the table. High timber ceilings rise above you. Glass runs from floor to ceiling, and a spacious deck floats above the infinity pool, opening the view to the crater lake, gardens, and the forest line of Kibale beyond.

Breakfast & early mornings
Mornings begin with fresh Ugandan coffee, fresh juice, fruit, freshly baked warm bread, pastries, and dishes from the à la carte menu. The chef prepares breakfast to help you leave well-fed for tracking, a village visit, a crater-lake walk, or the road ahead. When the morning is yours, stay a little longer. Let the coffee come again. Watch the gardens brighten through the glass.
Lunch for the trail or back at the lodge
On activity days, lunch leaves with you. You choose from the menu before you go, and the kitchen packs a meal made for the trail, the road, or a long day outside. If you stay back at the lodge or return early for lunch, the chef prepares a 3-course meal for you in Ziwa restaurant.

Dinner when the day slows down
Dinner is where Ziwa comes into its own. The room grows warmer. The tables glow. The chef sends out seasonal cuisine shaped by western Uganda, the lodge garden, and the appetite that follows fresh air. You return hungry from the day, and Mirima's 4-course dinners will nourish your appetite.
Evening tea and bites
In the late afternoon, the tea table in Ziwa dining gives guests another reason to slow down. You may find tea or coffee laid out with small bites such as freshly baked bread or cake, biscuits, pastries, sandwiches, or fruit. It is a simple, welcome pause between the forest and dinner.

Fresh ingredients
Mirima’s kitchen cooks from the place around it. The lodge garden gives the chef herbs, greens, and home-grown vegetables for the day’s sauces, salads, warm plates, and sides. Nearby growers bring avocado, beans, fruit, and seasonal produce from the surrounding community.
This is where the food finds its Tooro character. The chef works with Ugandan ingredients, familiar local produce, and a sense of generosity that belongs to this part of the country. Breakfast might bring ripe avocado, fruit, and warm food before the day begins. Lunch might carry garden vegetables, beans, fresh dressings, or a packed meal prepared with the same care as the table service. Dinner may come richer, with color, comfort, and the flavors you want after walking, tracking, traveling, or sitting outside all afternoon.
The menu follows what is fresh, what is ready, and what the chef wants to cook well that day. Some ingredients come from the garden. Some come from growers nearby. Together, they create the pleasure of Ugandan warmth, garden freshness, and meals that make Mirima feel even better at the table.
All-inclusive stay
Your stay at Mirima includes the full dining experience of the lodge, from the first coffee of the morning to dinner at Ziwa Dining and non-premium drinks at Kyanda.
Breakfast is served à la carte. Trekkers and guests heading out for longer activities receive a packed lunch chosen from the menu. Guests spending the day at the lodge sit down to a three-course lunch at Ziwa. A four-course dinner is served each evening.
Premium wines, top-shelf spirits, special bottles, and selected signature drinks are available at an additional cost.
Dietary requirements
The kitchen caters for dietary requirements. Share those details with your planner or the reservations team when you book, or as early as possible before arrival. That gives the chef time to plan each day’s menu around what you need.
Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, allergy-aware, and other dietary needs can be handled with notice. The point is not just to remove ingredients from your plate. It is to make sure you still eat well.
Tell us early, and your meals can still feel full, thoughtful, and part of the pleasure of staying here.
Kyanda Bar

Kyanda is Mirima’s social bar, made for the hour when the day loosens its grip. Set at the highest point on the property looking into the crater lake, guests drift in from the pool, the road, the forest, the gardens, or dinner at Ziwa, ready for something cold, bright, strong, or slow.
The barista pours classic favorites, international and Ugandan gins and wines, fresh juices, iced tea, coffee, and signature drinks inspired by the garden and the surrounding landscape. Ask for a cocktail before dinner, a fresh lemonade after an afternoon outside, or a nightcap when the dining room has gone quiet.
There is pleasure in this part of the day. A glass in your hand. A story from the trail. A little laughter from the next table. The bartender mixing something with citrus, herbs, spice, or local spirit. Kyanda gives Mirima its evening hum.
