Best for the night between your flight and your safari
Papyrus Guesthouse sits in quiet gardens in Upper Kiwafu, about 15 minutes from Entebbe International Airport. Many of our guests meet us at a particular point in their trip: just off a long flight into Uganda, setting out for safari the following morning, or back from the parks with one final night before flying home. This is when a proper meal, a shower, a comfortable bed and thoughtful hosting do their best work.
There are 9 Garden Rooms and 5 rooms in the Main House, all ensuite. The Garden Rooms open onto verandas among the greenery, while the Main House keeps you close to the dining and shared spaces. Meals are prepared on site, airport transfers can be arranged, and when you have time to spare, Entebbe is close enough to explore before the next part of your trip begins.
Accommodation
A good night’s rest before whatever comes next
At Papyrus, the room you choose changes the feel of the stay. Garden Rooms open straight into the greenery, with a veranda just outside your door. Main House Rooms bring you closer to the dining room, lounge and the life of the house. Both are made for settling in;, but the choice is really about what you want just beyond your door.
Garden Rooms
The Garden Rooms sit among the trees and flowers, each with its own entrance from the garden and a veranda outside. Step inside to a spacious bedroom and generous ensuite bathroom; step back out and you are in the garden again. That simple relationship with the outdoors is what gives these rooms their character.
Main House Rooms
Inside the main house, the dining room and lounge are close by, while your own sitting area and reading table give you a quieter corner when you want it. Finish dinner, walk back to your room in a few steps, and settle into your own space before bed. It suits guests who like the shared spaces close at hand.
What guests have said
Entebbe
Entebbe sits on a peninsula reaching into Lake Victoria, where the airport, residential neighborhoods, gardens and lakeshore share a relatively compact town. For many travelers it is the first place they meet Uganda, and the last before flying home. In between, the lake gives the town its own quieter pace.
With a few free hours, the town rewards a slower look. Wetlands and open water shape its edges, mature trees hold birdlife, and Lake Victoria stays close. A morning can take you into the Botanical Gardens or out on the water at Mabamba before the trip moves again.
Papyrus sits within this Entebbe setting, giving you a base for a few hours in town when your schedule leaves room.
Ways to spend your time in Entebbe
Sometimes there is a little more time between flights and safari than expected. Entebbe makes good use of it, from the Botanical Gardens and Lake Victoria to a shoebill trip at Mabamba or a few hours simply getting to know the town.

Dining
Meals at Papyrus follow the rhythm of the stay. Breakfast may come before an early departure, while dinner may be the first proper pause after a late arrival or the drive back from safari. After a long day in transit, sitting down to a proper meal is part of settling in.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served à la carte, with lunch and dinner offered as three-course meals. The kitchen works with fresh vegetables bought from the market the same day, and dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice.
The setting is relaxed and personal, which suits the way Papyrus is used. Meals can fit around an early start or a late arrival, but there is also room to sit a little longer when your schedule allows.

Sustainability
At Papyrus, sustainability is part of the everyday running of the guesthouse. Rainwater is collected for cleaning and the gardens, drinking water is available from a refill station, and single-use plastic is kept to a minimum. Power use is kept low with water heated using solar energy, while the gardens remain an important part of the property’s green character.
Papyrus hires locally and works with nearby suppliers wherever practical. Fresh produce comes from local markets less than a kilometer away, keeping food sourcing close to the kitchen and supporting businesses around us. Guests with time in Entebbe are also encouraged to experience the town through market visits and the local knowledge shared naturally by our team.
Every stay at Papyrus includes USD 10 per guest, per night for the Gorilla Junction Foundation Fund, supporting the Foundation’s ongoing community and conservation programs.
